Job vacancy: Analyst (Ongoing Supervision) within Banking Supervision in Grade 7

About Banking Supervision: 
The Banking Supervision Function at the MFSA is entrusted with the on-site and ongoing supervision of licensed banks and non-bank financial institutions (FIs) following authorisation. The Function also carries out supervision of Significant Credit Institutions (SIs) together with the European Central Bank through the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The Banking Supervision Team is made up of officials with a banking and economics background, but also legal, accounting, and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.

The Role: 
As an Analyst you will be assigned to carry out work that will include the following duties:  
  • Form part of the ongoing team supervising a group of significant credit institutions in line with the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) framework;
  • Supporting the execution of the Risk Assessment and Supervisory Review and Evaluation Programme (SREP);
  • Being the lead contact point for the relevant experts of the bank or risk areas that you will be supervising;
  • Representing the MFSA in industry forums or external stakeholders within your specific duties;
  • Working effectively with other departmental colleagues contributing to the development of the supervisory tools and agenda within the Banking Supervision Function;
  • Other ad hoc supervision-related duties as may be required by the Head or Deputy Head of the Function from time to time.

About You:
We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in Banking & Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related subject. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of two (2) years of working experience in a related area/similar post. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. Also, knowledge and/or experience in the field of information technology, virtual currencies, and their underlying technologies, would be considered an asset. A relevant post-graduate degree will be considered an asset. Having experience working in the area of financial services ideally with experience in financial services compliance environment or in law will be considered an asset.

Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience within the financial services environment and/or auditing, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
