About Fintech Supervision:

The FinTech Supervision Function within the Supervision Directorate of the MFSA is responsible for the supervision of the Virtual Financial Asset sector in Malta as well as providing cross-sectoral expertise on digital finance and FinTech-related policy and supervisory initiatives. The Function is also responsible for the development and implementation of the MFSA FinTech Strategy and Regulatory Sandbox.

The Role: 
Within this role, you will be joining an analytical and multidisciplinary team of policy experts and supervisors and will be expected to apply your academic qualifications and work experience to the various day to day duties as directed by the Head of the Function, or any other official who the Head designates for that purpose.

As an Analyst at Grade 7 within the FinTech Supervision Function you will be expected to:
  • Participate (including, acting as lead, where necessary) in the authorization and supervisory workstreams under the Virtual Financial Assets Act
  • Support, research, develop and/or implement policy projects and initiatives related to digital finance (including crypto-assets) in line with the Authority's strategy and vision;
  • Act as a digital finance and FinTech champion within the MFSA;
  • Liaise with the various Functions and Directorates of the Authority in the handling of the various projects and tasks, as well as other Governmental bodies and act as a point of contact, when required;
  • Participate in local, EU, local, and international forums, including the relevant committees of the European Supervisory Authorities; and
  • Undertaking any other tasks as delegated by line management, depending on the Authority's exigencies.

About You:
We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in law, accountancy or in banking, and finance-related background or in any other finance-related qualification. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognized professional qualification at a comparable level. You will also possess a minimum of three (3) years working in the area of the Financial Services Sector. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. Also, knowledge and/or experience in the field of information technology, virtual financial assets, and their underlying technologies, digital finance, and FinTech would be considered an asset. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in a similar related role, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
