We have some serious ambitious plans to grow our business and to be able to achieve them we are seeking to recruit a Product Design Manager to join our successful Product Design team supporting the global NPD operations, focusing on leading a team of professionals, implementing the right processes and technology to anticipate and exceed customer expectations across the group.

Role Purpose:
Managing the day-to-day activities of the Design Engineers to ensure that all Design requirements are met, and communicating with stakeholders to resolve any conflicting DFX requirements.

Accountabilities:
Managing Engineers in the Design Team​;
  • Manage day-to-day activities of Design Engineers​
  • Introduce and assign New Projects and tasks accordingly depending on the complexity​
  • Problem Solving with engineers and informing relevant stakeholders of results​
  • Ensure a proper workload distribution​
  • Ensuring all Design data is documented in full​
  • Develop Training programs for Design Engineers including orientation and ongoing training.
Provide the Organization with information necessary for upcoming projects and highlight risk factors​;
  • Provide feedback for upcoming projects in cross-functional forums​
  • Share information with PMO as required to develop Project plans and validate said Project Plans​
  • Sit in and communicate with customers as needed by PMO​
  • Providing technical information required for new Quotations​
  • Work with other Design related teams to ensure DFM principles are followed ​
  • Contribute to regular alignment meetings with other stakeholders (PMO, Operations, Management, etc)​
  • Present Data Required and solutions to Resolve DFX Conflicts.
Develop and Document Standard Operating Procedures for Design activities​;
  • Develop Checklists for commonly executed Design Activities​
  • Record SOPs in a common database and ensure best practices are constantly updated.
Other Responsibilities​;
  • Prepare and Track Monthly KPIs as requested​
  • Remaining abreast of new Design Technologies, techniques, and tools​
  • Remaining abreast of Potential manufacturing, technologies, techniques, and tools.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Education at MQF level 6 or higher in Engineering or Management
  • 5 Years + Management Experience leading Technical Teams
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of Commercial Aspects
  • Good command of Microsoft Office and CAD
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Diplomatic and Team Player
  • Data and Science Driven
  • A methodical and meticulous approach to work
  • Work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Must be self-disciplined and organized
  • Have excellent project management skills
  • Creative and Solutions Driven.
 
This role requires a person who can lead a highly technical team, be able to prioritize under pressure, and work effectively in a team. S/he must be good at building relationships across the business and have good written and verbal communication skills.
