Motor Repair Technician

We are seeking a versatile and skilled Technician to join our electric motor repair department. This role is perfect for a hands-on individual with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and a passion for troubleshooting and problem-solving. The Technician will be responsible for diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of electric motors, contributing to our commitment to delivering high-quality repair services.

Responsibilities but not limited to: 

Motor repair:

o Dismantling of machinery and equipment,

o Cleaning, washing, spraying and painting,

o Insulating,

o Winding of coils,

o Rewinding of motors, generators, exciters, brakes, solenoid coils and any other wound components,

o Perform mechanical repairs, including bearing replacement, shaft repairs, and housing repairs,

Machine Maintenance and Tooling:

o Maintain and calibrate repair shop equipment, including winding machines, test benches, and lifting equipment,

o Ensure proper maintenance of hand tools and power tools,

o Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards,

o Help maintain an organised and clean work area.

Technical Support:

o Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings,

o Assist with the development and implementation of repair procedures,

o Provide technical support to customers as needed,

o Assist in quality control inspections and testing,

o Assist in the ordering and inventory of repair parts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AC and DC motor repair.

• Knowledge of motor control systems.

• Experience with vibration analysis and balancing.

• Experience with the use of a lathe, and other machine shop tools.
