Maintenance Technician

Inspire in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician to join their team on a full-time basis.

General Scope and Purpose of Position:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team on a Full-Time Basis! Our Maintenance Technician shall be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of equipment, machinery, and building systems, minimizing downtime, and supporting facility operations.

The key duties of this role include troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and assisting with system upgrades. The role also involves performing mechanical tasks to optimize equipment performance, improve efficiency, and enhance safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the individual will supervise, coach, and mentor staff members under their supervision. 

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on machinery, HVAC systems, electrical circuits, plumbing, and other mechanical systems, including cleaning and adjustments to ensure optimal operation
• Diagnose issues and identify the root causes of any equipment or systems and perform repairs as necessary, including replacement of faulty parts
• Develop and implement schedules for preventive maintenance tasks to reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and increase efficiency
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance tasks, inspections and repairs ensuring compliance with local health & safety and operational standards
• Assisting in installation and setup of new machinery equipment and systems as required
• To be on call should any urgent matters arise even outside of standard working hours and assist in handling any emergencies that might arise during day-to-day operation
• Adhere to health & safety protocols and industry regulations while carrying out tasks, and while handling any hazardous materials or equipment
• Take ownership of stock items (operational machinery, supplies and tools) and replacements allocated to the department
• Ensure a quick response to urgent maintenance requests or equipment failures to minimize production downtime
• Collaborate with relevant third-party suppliers/contractors as required
• Maintain all maintenance areas clean and organized and adhere to safety guidelines.

Role Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• A recognized qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or in a related field
• At least 1 year experience in a related field
• Knowledgeable in plumbing and mechanical system
• High proficiency in English language (both spoken and written)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Candidates in possession of Electrical License A & B will be preferred.

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunization.
