Maintenance Manager (Manufacturing)

Our client, a well-established Manufacturing Company is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the management of a technical team composed of a Technical Trade Leader and technicians that will be working within the facility. 

• Assist the Packaging Manager to develop, design and integrate new packaging technologies and other improvements in the various processes s/he is responsible for;
• Be responsible for a Maintenance team and their development;
• Coach and develop the department's technical staff and manage their performance against set objectives;
• Manage staff through the Human Resources Information System and roster staff according to established company procedures;
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement with all team members, which includes due consideration to product and process quality and cost reduction;
• Manage the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme throughout the Packaging plant.  Schedule the relevant preventive maintenance tasks and assign their implementation to the team. 
• Manage all spare parts for the different plants and equipment on the company's ERP system to ensure availability of critical parts;
• Organise immediate trouble-shooting and repairs in the case of plant breakdown, according to lean principles with the objective of minimizing down-time.
• Ensure that all works are carried out in line with the company's OHS, Hygiene, Quality and Food Safety Standard.
• In liaison with Packaging Manager ensure that the maintenance program is maintained by exploiting line availability.;
• Monitor process, production data and utilities consumption trends regularly to identity the need for corrective and preventive maintenance.;
• Manage risk assessment reports and take any other necessary measures to ensure health and safety of subordinates or that of other employees;
• Be available outside normal working hours to assist and advise in the event of equipment breakdown and ensure that process down-time is kept to a minimum.

• Maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical installations as well as manufacturing process automation
• Project management experience
• Good organisational and decision-making skills, including the ability to plan, organise, and schedule the work of others
• Strong leadership skills to provide technical direction to team members as well as external contractors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Maltese and/or English
• Based in Malta

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Electrical / Mechanical)
• 3-5 years' experience at a leadership level in a technical environment, preferably Manufacturing
