Our client is looking for a Head of Engineering and Maintenance to lead their Maintenance, Engineering, and HSE departments. Your main responsibilities will include:
Overseeing and managing all functions relating to the planning, design and implementation of facility, equipment and process/system projects, which includes conducting design studies and related analyses, preparing capital expense justifications, ensuring design specifications are in compliance with cGMPs, project tracking and control of implementation activities
Overseeing installation of equipment, processes and systems in compliance with cGMPs and validation protocols
Leading, directing and coaching the respective teams within the department primarily in the areas of training, disciplinary action, problem resolution, and work assignment delegation
Monitoring the performance of the department, via KPI’s and other available media
Ensuring a smooth flow of preventive and corrective maintenance operations
Ensuring all equipment installations for compliance with current and prospective current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's) requirements
Ensuring that proper documentation practices are adhered to and that job reports, calibration records as well as other relevant documents are readily retrievable
Reviewing all new capital requests for completeness against engineering and corporate standards, including ROI analysis
Reviewing the scope of investment with the functional heads to ensure their expectations are aligned with the request
Reviewing all conceptual design of engineering and capital projects and evaluates cost before capital approval related to construction and process equipment; Assisting in the development of cost and schedule for various construction projects
Preparing and managing the department's budget and evaluating new equipment and other capital expenditures and submits purchasing recommendations
Researching and advising on new capital improvement, utilities, environmental systems and equipment purchases and manages subsequent installations
Directing the construction maintenance and repair activities of all facilities, utilities, equipment, building, grounds, housekeeping, sanitation, waste disposal
Regularly reviewing construction, equipment, quality assurance, environmental systems, utilities, projects and maintenance operations for potential cost savings and improvements
Overseeing the design, development, process improvements and implementation of intelligent data tracking and reporting systems that support the engineering functional groups
Overseeing the control of engineering drawings, project manuals and equipment documentation
Providing timely manufacturing engineering support to all of the departments, including Production, Packaging and Laboratories, as necessary.
Overseeing the activities and functions of manufacturing engineering projects
Providing engineering analysis of current equipment systems to identify areas requiring improvement or replacement
Assuring compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory requirements through the creation implementation and administration of programs
Establishing compliance-related policies and procedures based on EHS requirements. Creates, promotes, administers and reviews EHS related programs
Evaluating the effectiveness and stability of existing data processing applications, and develops project plans to assure functionality and compliance to standards
Skill-sets and Requirements
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English
Must have excellent leadership skills
Able to lead and motivate team and proven experience in management
Excellent planning and organisational skills coupled with a drive for continuous improvement
Proactive and meticulous attention to detail
Education & Experience
A Master's Degree in Engineering or related
Minimum of 5 years experience within a similar role
Manufacturing Experience and knowledge of GMPs and HSE is a must
Pharmaceutical Experience will be considered an asset
Experience working on Capital projects and facilities is a must
Green Belt Certificate or higher will be considered an asset
