Job vacancy: Data Architect within Data Management and BI in Grade 7

About Data Management and BI:
The Data Management and Business Intelligence (BI) function enables timely and effective decision-making across the Authority through more effective data and records management, and the provision of business intelligence reporting to support risk-based supervision. The team is responsible for driving data governance, data quality management, and integrity, as well as the data architecture across the whole organisation. As part of its remit, the function is also responsible for managing a centralised data warehouse and BI analytics platform to provide ongoing insights, analyses, and operational dashboards for end-users.

The Role:
  • Work closely with the Senior Data Architect to deliver against the data quality strategy
  • Define the data architecture elements including conceptual data models, metadata definition, and related data validations
  • Analyse, design, and document workflows and data models that support the development of sound data architecture.
  • Analyse potential root causes for data quality issues, proposing solutions, and discuss options and outcomes with relevant data and technical stakeholders.
  • Support peer reviews of systems upgrades, workflows, and data flow that are written by other members of the Data Management and Business Intelligence team.
  • Define and maintain metadata, lineage, and data dictionary definitions
  • In liaison with other data management, colleagues plan and develop the data architecture in support of upcoming features and capabilities on the roadmap
  • Support may be required from time to time in defining technical data requirements and carrying out testing for systems and strategic platforms.


About You:
We are looking for an individual that uses an analytical approach to problem solving, is highly numerate and enjoys working with data. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently is important in this role, as well as the ability to work in a complex and changing environment. The role calls for an academic qualification in Computer Information Systems or similar at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will need to have at least three (3) years of working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience within a relevant field, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

Other Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable of database technologies and enterprise data modelling
  • Knowledgeable of the different techniques and standards for delivering high-quality data architecture
  • Experience in Enterprise Web Applications as well as Database operations and SQL in a Microsoft stack environment.
