Role Overview

The Senior Executive - Accounting, reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, is a pivotal role responsible for managing a client portfolio, preparing and reviewing financial documents, and mentoring junior accountants. This position demands a driven and ambitious individual dedicated to delivering a high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Portfolio Management: Responsible for a portfolio of clients, meeting their requests and queries.
  • Financial Document Preparation and Review: Prepare and review management accounts, tax returns, monthly VAT returns, and VAT recapitulative statements.
  • Auditor Liaison: Liaise with auditors for seamless collaboration.
  • Technical Development: Develop the technical abilities of junior accountants and provide mentoring.
  • Quality Control: Delegate tasks to junior accountants, reviewing work to ensure quality control.
  • Client Meetings: Meet with clients in the assigned portfolio, addressing their requests and queries.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Experience: At least 2 years experience in a client accounting role.
  • Education: Full qualification in accounting or close to completing a master's level university degree in Accounting, ACA, or ACCA.
  • Knowledge: Sound knowledge of IFRS, GAPSME reporting standards, Income Tax Act, and Value Added Tax Act.
  • Software Proficiency: Conversant with standard software packages, proficient in MS Excel, and ready to learn company-specific software if required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Team Player: Ability to work with a team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ethical Standards: Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritise effectively, and deliver within tight time frames.
  • Interest and Exposure: Interest in being exposed to payroll, tax returns, and tax computations.
