Salvo Grima Group is a dynamic Group of Companies specialising in FMCG distribution, duty-free travel retail and ship supply, operating in seven countries in Europe and Africa and employing over 300 people.

We are now looking for a full-time Finance Manager (Distribution) answerable to our Group Financial Controller whilst providing specific support to our Africa- focused business development and distribution teams.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has acquired or is in the process, of acquiring a Masters in Accountancy, ACCA or any other comparable recognised Accounting qualification at MQF Level 7 or higher;
  • Has a passion for international business and is competent at contributing towards the development of business plans and tenders; evaluating business proposals and analysing opportunities;
  • Is able to travel to various locations in North and East Africa where necessary;
  • Is confident and assertive with clear communication and reporting skills, able to interpret and explain financial data;
  • Is details-oriented, accurate and motivated;
  • Relevant experience in an international Group or export-oriented company would be an asset;

 

Duties include:

  • Working closely with the distribution and business development teams in order to evaluate and analyse business performance, proposals, plans and opportunities;
  • Building positive banking relationships and identifying sources of trade finance;
  • Supervising the maintenance of subsidiary ledgers and other financial records of one or more business units
  • Supervising the finance team based across different locations;
  • Keeping up to date on global and regional economic, financial and tax developments, especially in relation to Africa;
  • Assisting in the process of preparing management accounts and in year-end processes;
  • Preparing VAT returns and financial data required for official bodies and Government departments;
  • Liaising with the group’s auditors and other business units service providers;
  • Preparing up-to-date bank balances, debtor and creditor positions, and other financial data;
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and strengthening of internal controls.
