A client of ours specialising in the Retail and Hospitality sectors is looking to onboard a Chief Financial Officer to join their team; this person will be reporting directly to the CEO and GM, as well as the Board:
Duties:
Planning, developing, organising, implementing, directing and evaluating the organisation’s fiscal function and performance.
Collation and preparation of group financial reports, including but not limited to financial highlights, budgets, tax, audit, regulatory, costings, and compliance matters.
Managing the Group’s financial position and commercial strategy to maximise profitability, cash flow and return on investment by preparing forecasts, cash projections, cash management and business case planning, as well as debt management, equity valuations and internal financing.
Evaluating and providing advice on the financial impact of long-term planning, new projects and strategies, and delivering presentations to the Group’s senior management and relevant authorities on such matters.
Directing the fiscal functions in accordance with regulatory requirements, and with financial management techniques and practices.
Managing the performance of the finance team to ensure that the preparation of financial and other reports are carried out in a timely manner, to the highest level of accounting processes and implementing internal controls.
Representing the company with third parties, including but not limited to authorities with respect to the filing of monthly statutory documentation and returns.
Providing advice on the financial implications of business activities
Managing the consolidation process and statutory reporting
Managing and developing staff to meet current and future business requirements
Being involved from a strategic point of view and providing the appropriate recommendations and participating in key decision making
Skill-sets and Requirements
A proven track record of responsibility for successful management of budgeting processes, asset management, investment management, forecasting, costings, strategic planning, and cash management
Possession of strategic vision, commercial awareness, analytical ability, good judgment and a strong operational focus
Must have excellent leadership skills, strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and excellent problem-solving skills, and results- oriented
Must be energetic and forward-thinking with high ethical standards, showing persistence, initiative and an optimistic and a can do attitude
Fluency in Maltese and English is necessary for this position
Education & Experience
Must be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a progressive financial role, ideally within a management position
