Assistant Manager - Client Accounting

Our client in Financial Services is looking to recruit an Assistant Manager to join their team. The chosen candidate will be reporting to the Manager of Client Accounting and will be taking an active role in establishing and managing the accounting department and overseeing the activities of a small, but growing team.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance of the general ledger and the preparation of management accounts
• Management and development of the client accounting function and relationships for services provided to other offices within the group
• Planning and prioritizing of own workload and that of the team to ensure that internal and external deadlines are met
• Being the point of contact on matters relating to bookkeeping and complex and technical matters
• Reviewing of financial statements
• Mentoring and training of junior team members
• Liaising with other offices within the Group
• Assisting in other duties, as and when required

Education & Experience:

• In possession of a University degree in Accounting or the ACCA / ACA qualification or in the final stages of obtaining such qualification

• Previous experience within a similar function

Skills:

• Solid understanding of the preparation of financial statements under GAPSME, IFRS and FRS 102
• Excellent communication skills in both Maltese & English
• Good communication, organisational and problem solving skills
• Ability to work to deadlines with moderate supervision
• Ability to effectively manage and motivate junior staff 
• A positive ‘can do’ attitude
