Our client, operating in the hospitality industry is seeking to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller to join their Finance team. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Assisting and supervising of the finance department whilst taking over in the Financial Controller's absence
Carrying out accounting duties such as data entry
Reviewing all finance functions during the month as well as responsible for checking all entries
Assisting in the preparation of Management accounts, financial statements, reports and forecasts on a monthly basis
Assisting in the drafting of budgets, tax returns and other reports required by the authorities
Reconciling of all accounts in the trial balance
Providing training to staff members in relation to financial processes
Supervising and controlling the department's activities and actively participating in solving any problems that may arise
Identifying and searching for potential solutions focused on improving the current processes
Delegating work to achieve an efficient and effective distribution of the workload and flexibility with the aim to improving the performance of the team
Liaising with superiors on matters that require guidance
Ascertaining that all matters regarding accounts remain of a confidential nature
Any other duties which may arise from time to time
Skill-sets and Requirements
Minimum 2 years working experience in a similar position
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent understanding of financial processes and accounting
Fluency in both English and Maltese
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work on own initiative
Education & Experience
In possession of an accounting degree or in the final stages of ACCA
