Our client, a leading company within construction, is seeking to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller to join their Finance team. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Assisting in the supervision and direction of the finance team
Carrying out general accounting duties including data entry
Preparing monthly management accounts, reconciliations and other reports which may be required
Reviewing and checking the monthly payroll computation report
Assisting in the preparation of budgets and other financial reports as may be required
Assisting in the preparation of the annual audit file and liaising with external auditors and making sure the audit timeline is being adhered to
Preparing VAT returns and other statutory reports
Assisting in the monitoring and planning of the cash resources to ensure commitments are being met
Supervising and controlling the department’s activities and getting directly involved to solve any problems that may arise
Following up work in progress with the Quantity Surveyor team
Seeking and following advice of superiors when this is deemed necessary, whilst liaising with superiors on matters that require guidance
Looking into ways on how to improve and solve the present systems and any issues that may arise from time to time
Making sure that all matters regarding finance remains of a confidential nature
Assisting in the motivation of all the finance staff and to their career development and training
Skill-sets and Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
Fluency in both Maltese and English
Smart and professional individual with the capability to work on own initiative
Experience in accounting packages and MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is a must
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills
Education & Experience
Fully qualified or in the last stages of obtaining the ACCA
