A client of ours specialising in the Insurance sector is urgently seeking an Accountant to join their team:
Duties:
Assisting with all finance and accounting operations in collaboration with the Outsourced Finance Managers
Coordinating, obtaining and reconciling monthly data including statements of accounts from partnering intermediaries
Coordinate the preparation of and distribution of timely monthly management accounts and reports
Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of the reinsurance statements in accordance with the requirements of each applicable treaty
Together with the Financial Controller, participate in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and report variances
Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting deadlines and tax filings
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting including Quarterly Reporting Templates (QRTs) and National Specific Templates (NSTs) in a timely manner for Holding, Group, PCC, Core and cell entities
Assisting in the interim and year-end audit procedures, the preparation of annual financial statements and liaising with the auditors as required
Providing assistance in the preparation of reports for Board meetings and monthly management meetings as directed by the Financial Controller
Assist with developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Continually support in the development of IT systems to better facilitate processes and maintain records
Supporting the Financial Controller in any ad-hoc assignments as required
Assist in the implementation of the new accounting standard, IFRS 17.
Skill-sets and Requirements
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with insurance related IFRS requirements would be considered an asset
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close processes
Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skills
Must be prepared to travel as and when necessary or as required by management
A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Education & Experience
Applicants must either have a qualification in accounting or be at the final stages of achieving the ACCA or any other comparable recognised qualification
