Marine Technical Manager

Manoel Island Yacht Yard in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Marine Technical Manager to join their team on a full-time basis.

Education / Experience:

• Must have an engineering degree or equivalent level of education
• Must have at least 4 years of Management experience in a similar environment.

The following trades will report directly to the Marine Technical Manager:

• Engineering Supervisor
• Paint Supervisor
• Skilled Labourers Supervisor
• And all other Supervisors that may be assigned from time to time

Responsibilities:

• To adhere to MIYY policy described in quality management policy
• To ensure the team placed under his responsibility especially supervisors adhere to the quality management policy
• To lead the group of workers under his responsibility, through their respective Supervisor, to carry out the work assigned to them to required quality standard, efficiently and according to the company’s Health and Safety regulations
• Act as project Manager for boats/projects on the hard and on slips as required
• Manage subcontractors on projects under his responsibility
• Maintenance and upkeep of the yard infrastructure
• Maintenance and upkeep of mobile and fixed plant used for operations in the yard
• Technical assistance in procurement
• Assist in evaluating jobs for quoting purposes
• Assist in invoicing procedure on projects under his responsibility
• Compile technical reports when required
• Improve method of work regarding MIYY policy
• Improve planning of work carried out to the benefits of clients
• Improve planning of work carried for preventive and corrective maintenance
• Manage activities and team in order to reach targets mentioned on KPI regarding production and maintenance
• Establish all documentation in regard to MIYY policy for technical aspects (reports, task description…)
• Manage his staff and especially the supervisor under his responsibility regarding respect of clothing, behavior, work absenteeism, know-how
• To establish in connection with quality manager and HR, plans and schedule of training for his activity.
