Inspire Foundation in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Speech Language Pathologist to join their team on a temporary basis.

General Scope and Purpose of Position:
We are currently looking for a Speech & Language Pathologist to join our team on a Temporary Full-Time basis until February 2025. The Speech & Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing specialist assessment & interventions utilising SLP strategies. This includes monitoring & training staff directly involved in the implementation of the SLP treatment plan, as well as attending client reviews. Good quality standards of practice must be met and maintained.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of Speech & Language Pathology within the programme
  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using specialist Speech & Language Pathology skills. This should include: evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement & evaluate interventions
  • To plan & implement client-centred individual & group interventions, as well as domiciliary visits, using clinical reasoning & a wide range of interventions to achieve therapeutic goals
  • To monitor, evaluate & modify treatment for clients with multiple needs to measure progress & ensure the effectiveness of intervention
  • To work with clients, carers & relatives who may have distressing social circumstances
  • To establish & maintain communication networks with other staff members, clients, carers & other health workers & agencies
  • To demonstrate skills in communicating sensitive & contentious information to clients & carers as appropriate
  • To ensure that professional and up-to-date written & electronic records, as well as activity data, are maintained by Inspire standards
  • To provide specialist Speech & Language Pathology reports relevant to the practice setting
  • To be responsible for the supervision & written assessment of SLP students on placement at Inspire and supervise junior staff
  • To contribute to the operational planning & implementation of policy & service development
  • To assist in the delivery of delegated areas of the SLP development plan within the service
  • To provide input & advice on Speech & Language Pathology to other staff, attending service meetings as required & in agreement with the established line manager
  • To make constructive suggestions on resources necessary to maintain the service
  • To decide priorities, under supervision, for own work area, balancing SLP client related & professional demands & ensuring that these remain by those of the service area as a whole
  • To be actively involved in the collection of appropriate data & statistics as required by the Service
  • To liaise closely with your Manager in monitoring the level & quality of service provision. Working within service standards & time responses
  • To take responsibility for personal adherence to Health & Safety guidelines & maintain safe working environments & working practices.


Qualification Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • MQF Level 6 or equivalent (Bsc. Degree) in Speech & Language Pathology
  • Be registered with the Council for the Professions Complimentary to Medicine (CPCM)
  • High proficiency in both English & Maltese language (written & spoken)
  • Previous experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will be considered as an asset.
