Our Client is a large organisation with a specific division specialising in the provision of DIY and home improvement products from their large retail store in Central Malta. A Purchasing Lead is now required to mentor and lead the buying team which is responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality products at excellent pricing levels.
Managing and developing the purchasing team, the responsibilities associated with this role are as follows:
Allocating project work to team members
Managing the purchasing team which will include appraisals, recruitment, training, etc
Category management
Monitoring and understanding consumer trends in order to plan strategy in line with market requirements
Sourcing products from local and international suppliers
Reviewing and developing processes and procedures within the department
Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers
Issuing tenders and undertaking evaluation process
Negotiating prices, delivery, and payment conditions with suppliers
Developing rebate plans
Developing and supporting promotional activity with the marketing department
Improving contractual conditions with suppliers.
Reviewing stock levels and ordering products accordingly
Ensuring sourced items have the requested quality and certifications as per group policy
Preparing reports and presenting them to the senior management team.
Applicants will:
Have previous experience as a Head of Purchasing or Purchasing Lead preferably within a DIY / Home Improvement retail environment
Be educated to MQF Level 4 (or higher) within a relevant subject such as Procurement, Business Admin, Sales & Marketing Management, etc
Demonstrate a sound understanding of the retail industry with knowledge of products and services available in this particular market
Be fluent in written and spoken English.
