‍Duties & Responsibilities

The Contracts Vetting Unit within the Legal Department of the Bank undertakes all legal work related with the drafting and publication of credit agreements whilst taking an active role in work of a related nature, including tendering advice on specific aspects related with credit agreements and terms and conditions related to them. 

Vacant roles

The Bank is seeking to recruit various officers within different career streams of our Contracts Vetting Unit - from managerial to supervisory and administrative roles. The candidates will be allocated to the appropriate career stream depending on their experience and qualifications. 

You will be responsible for:

  • processing and issuing of credit agreements, letters of waiver and cancellation; 
  • ensuring that the Bank’s hypothecary rights are duly registered;
  • representing the Bank on public deeds;
  • liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including vetting lawyers and notaries; and
  • setting of appointments, processing of invoices and other duties which may be assigned by the Head of Unit in the interest of the smooth running of the Unit and the Department.

Competencies and experience

Candidates must be reliable, trustworthy team players with unquestionable integrity. They must show an aptitude for learning, are capable to work in a dynamic environment and be meticulous and organised in their work. A good knowledge of MS Office applications is essential. 

You must:

  • be self-motivated with an ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines, with a solution-driven approach to work;
  • have the ability to multitask; 
  • be attentive to detail; and
  • be proficient in both Maltese and English with strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Whilst MQF Level 5 qualification or previous work experience in a credit institution or notarial office are desirable, depending on your qualifications and experience, the Bank can offer you a post in line with your capabilities and aspirations.
