Senior Waiter / Sommelier

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Waiter / Sommelier to join their front-of-house team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional table service while guiding guests through the restaurant's wine selection, recommending food and wine pairings, and ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable fine dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional food and beverage service in a professional, attentive, and friendly manner.
• Welcome guests and ensure an outstanding dining experience from arrival to departure.
• Recommend wines that complement menu selections and provide expert food and wine pairing advice.
• Present and serve wines according to fine dining service standards.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the food and beverage menus.
• Assist guests with menu recommendations and answer questions confidently.
• Ensure tables are prepared and maintained to the highest standards.
• Coordinate closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth and efficient service.
• Handle guest feedback professionally and resolve any concerns promptly.
• Support and mentor junior members of the front-of-house team when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the restaurant.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Has extensive experience in premium restaurants.
• Possesses excellent wine knowledge, including food and wine pairing.
• Delivers outstanding customer service with confidence and professionalism.
• Has a strong understanding of fine dining and premium steak restaurants.
• Speaks fluent English. Maltese candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Is reliable, well-presented, and enjoys working within a high-performing team.
