The Qawra Palace Resort & Spa is looking to recruit a Pastry Chef on a full-time basis to join their team.

Main Duties:

  • Assist the Pastry Chef in producing pastries on time and per company standards and recipes.
  • Prepare required pastry recipes following menus, recipes, guidelines, and methods.
  • Perform basic pastry tasks, including creams, ice-cream, and basic dough preparation.
  • Use general techniques such as working with a piping bag.
  • Read, understand, and follow company recipes accurately.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with USPH and company regulations.
  • Work in various sections of the pastry department and demonstrate methods and recipes to subordinates.
  • Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and appearance meet company expectations.
  • Address and rectify any discrepancies immediately.
  • Communicate daily provision issues to the Chef De Partie.
  • Possess strong knowledge of pastry and culinary terms.
  • Perform tasks efficiently and productively.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations daily.
  • Prepare pastry areas for inspections.
  • Manage pastry equipment, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and proper storage.
  • Record and report damages or malfunctions of equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food preparation/service.
  • Completion of high school.
  • Pastry School Degree would be an asset.
  • Food Hygiene Certification.
  • Strong problem resolution skills and ability to provide exemplary customer service.
  • Enjoy working in a busy, active, and sometimes noisy environment.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Proficient in responding to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
