Financial Controller

Job Description
Thomas Smith & Co Ltd in Malta, is looking to recruit a Financial Controller to join their finance team on a full-time basis.  The role is a new vacancy as the company is growing at a rapid rate. You will be reporting to the CFO; taking on a leading role within the company; and will be helping create a positive environment that is looking to grow and expand. 
 

Responsibilities of the Role: 

• Manage the Group’s financial operations, ensuring quality control; 
• Coordinate and lead the preparation of the budget, forecasts and business plans; 
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly group consolidated management accounts; 
• Variance reporting, analysing trends and investigating discrepancies in a collaborative manner with the relevant teams; 
• Support in the month-end and year-end close process; 
• Assist in developing business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen the company’s internal controls; 
• Lead and develop the finance team; 
• Collaborate with external auditors and service providers; 
• Additional operational finance duties as necessary.

• Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Excel is essential;

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 

• 5+ years’ worth of overall combined accounting and finance experience; including experience in managing accounting teams; 
• Holds a recognised Accounting degree and a CPA warrant.
