Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) is a faculty of Queen Mary University of London, one of the three largest colleges of the University of London, and a member of the prestigious Russell Group.  The School is ranked 3rd in the UK for Medicine (Guardian University Guide 2018) and now offers a five-year MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) in Medicine. QMUL (Malta) Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Queen Mary and is based on the island of Gozo in Malta.

Applications are invited for the post of Finance Administrator on a permanent and full-time basis.

Job Role: 
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Operations Team for QMUL Malta Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Malta campus. The post holder will work within the Professional Services team and will provide high-quality finance guidance, advice, and administrative services to senior management, line managers, and other colleagues in the School.

The role will work closely with the Director of Operations; Operations Manager; the Deputy Dean for Education; Curriculum Operations and Quality Manager; and the Head of Finance (London) SMD; and deliver a high quality, professional and responsive finance service; managing a range of financial processing and systems. The successful candidate will support and enhance financial practices and the interpretation and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. The incumbent will use their experience and knowledge of financial processes to support and provide appropriate and timely advice and guidance to managers and external stakeholders in an effective and dynamic way.

Requirements: 
  • The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar role within an education or customer-focused environment;
  • They will have a strong commitment to the delivery of outstanding customer service, with broad experience in the administration of finance processes and operational support;
  • Additionally, they will be customer-oriented and able to assess and deal with a range of situations in a professional manner, and able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders of all levels.

Other information: 
This post will be employed by QMUL Malta Ltd a wholly-owned subsidiary of Queen Mary University of London and will be based in Malta. The post is full-time and based upon a notional 35 hrs per week. The salary is €29,000 per annum. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave.

Queen Mary University of London Malta Campus:
In addition to the home campuses in London, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) now also operates from its own state of the art, custom-built, campus in Gozo, Malta. In 2017, QMUL and the Barts School of Medicine and Dentistry launched a 5-year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme from Malta. Up to 60 students a year will be accepted onto this 5-year programme, with the fifth annual intake joining us later this year. QMUL Malta has experienced a period of rapid growth in the last 18 months, and we are now seeking to fill the role of a Business Support Administrator. This is an exciting time to join QMUL Malta: we moved into our flagship campus building in October 2019, and now have unrivalled facilities for staff and students alike. Our campus is located on the grounds of Gozo General Hospital, in the centre of Victoria, the capital of Gozo. In addition to the annual intake of MBBS students, QMUL is working towards offering a number of other clinical courses, taught Masters, summer school programmes, stakeholder engagement activities, business development activities, and community engagement projects. Staff members at QMUL Malta are primarily employed on QMUL Malta Ltd. This role forms part of an expanding team, and as a result the duties and responsibilities of QMUL Malta posts will necessarily cover a greater breadth and variety than similar roles in QMUL London or in other universities. Applicants therefore need to be able to demonstrate considerable flexibility, drive, and sensitivity to strategic priorities. The role will be based at QMUL Malta, with regular ongoing contact between relevant teams and stakeholders in both Malta and in the UK, as well as occasional travel between Malta and London.
